Overview

Darunik is a dedicated online store for medicine, supplements and medical supplies, built from the ground up. The main goal of this project was to create a fast, trustworthy and secure shopping experience for users looking for medicine or health-related products, while accounting for the specific sensitivities of this domain — such as the need for a doctor's prescription on certain items.

  • Smart medicine search and filtering by name, category (medicine, supplements, medical supplies) and prescription requirement
  • A prescription image upload flow with pharmacy-team review and approval before an order ships
  • Real-time inventory and pricing management from the admin panel
  • Order status tracking for the user, from checkout to delivery
  • Online payment gateway integration for secure checkout
  • SEO-optimized product pages so users can easily find medicine and related information

Technical Architecture

The frontend is built with Next.js to keep load times fast and give product pages strong SEO performance through server-side rendering on high-traffic pages. The backend is built with Laravel and handles products, inventory, orders, uploaded prescriptions, and the payment gateway integration. The two layers communicate through a RESTful API, allowing the frontend and backend to be developed independently. The primary database is MySQL, and deployment is managed with Docker and Nginx.

My Role

I was responsible for the architecture design, the full backend implementation (Laravel) — including product/order/prescription management — the frontend development (Next.js), as well as the deployment and ongoing maintenance of the service.
