Two Different Philosophies for Storing Data
PostgreSQL is a relational database that stores data in interrelated tables and enforces a strict schema. MongoDB is a document database that stores data in flexible, JSON-like structures.
Which Fits Which Scenario
If your data is relational and structured — orders, users, payments with clear relationships — PostgreSQL, with its foreign keys and transactions, is the safer bet for data integrity. If you're dealing with data whose structure varies or nests deeply — like user profiles with many optional fields — MongoDB offers more flexibility. Many real projects even use both, each for the part of the data it fits best.
